it was confirmed that my left coil had migrated into and embedded in my uterus…
This is just a brief account of the experiences I have had due to Essure and the neglect and lack of knowledge the medical profession has on Essure.
After Essure was fitted I was in extreme discomfort for approximately 2 months. I was expecting to be back at work roughly 2 days after the procedure NOT 2 MONTHS. Eventually things settled down but I then started noticing the weight gain, my period also became a lot heavier, I would bleed for days with maybe only 2 or 3 days break inbetween. I was referred to a different OBGYN and was given an ablation (which I am now aware that this should not be done with Essure placed).
Thing settled for a few months but then I started experiencing a searing burn pain on my left side. I was then sent for a scan by my GP and during the scan I was asked if I had a coil fitted (which I have NEVER had fitted). I queried this after with my GP who luckily has been fantastic with me throughout this whole ordeal. She contacted the hospital and was told that I must have been lying wrong when I was getting the scan (I never believed this and was certain that one of my coils had migrated).
After 2 more years of extreme pain, fatigue, hair, loss, bloating, painful intercourse, hormones so bad that I felt like killing someone or myself, I was then sent back for another scan and there it was confirmed that my left coil had migrated into and embedded in my uterus. I can only thank the lord that in those 2 years that it did not migrate further.
A further scan to do proper imaging had to happen and I was seen on that day by 3 different radiographers and not one of them new about Essure. Even my own GP had very little knowledge of Essure but thankfully she looked into it and believed me, which assured me that I was not going mad.
I am now on the priority list for a abdominal subtotal hysterectomy leaving ovaries and cervix and was told by my consultant that it could well have been the ablation that caused the coil to migrate.
WITH THE HELP OF THIS GROUP AND OTHER PEOPLES’ EXPERIENCES I WAS ABLE TO VOICE MY CONCERNS WITH MY OBGYN AND TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED DONE. IT IS A DISGRACEFUL AND BARBARIC METHOD OF BIRTH CONTROL, IT NEEDS BANNED PERMANENTLY WORLDWIDE.
